United States Air Force VETERAN
I served in the US Air Force back in the ’70s. I was an electronics technician on the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile in Cheyenne, WY. Over time I became the “Minuteman”, a hard earned handle that stuck for a long, long while. I maintained the nuclear weapons poised in deep holes in the ground throughout Wyoming and Nebraska. It was very interesting, extremely technical and quite cold. This was the first time I really noticed the right and left sides of my brain in combat with each other. I started writing and playing in coffee shops and hotel lounges – anywhere I could when I wasn’t on alert. I began to notice an ability to affect folks with my music. I did my 4 years service and used the GI BILL I’d earned to follow the technical path and became an Electrical Engineer. And yes, my right brain was saying “what the hell are you doing to me!” I continued to write over the years. Mostly for myself and a small group of close friends. It was my diary of sorts. My therapy. I promised myself that one fine day I would come back to the music. But first, 4 kids, the mortgage, and a major health scare had to be attended to.
So here I am now – keeping my word to myself. I need to see if I have enough juice left to take a good run at this. I don’t want fame. Don’t plan to get rich. I am already blessed beyond my wildest dreams. I simply want to write good songs and share them with you.
